The Continuation

I started working on a side project called Kiambote in late 2019; it was basically a website where I would upload my DJ sets and invite my friends to listen. The first version was amazing and achieved everything I intended. Anyone who works on side projects knows that ideas keep coming one after the other.

I felt I could give it to other DJs to use as well. Without knowing how to develop a business or create a product that can handle production requirements, I started working on the technical side, which was all I knew how to do.

Things progressed, and I decided to bring people in to help with other aspects like marketing, branding, and design.

We reached the point where we live-streamed from a custom tool and could watch live streams from a custom web player. Live streams were recorded and viewable on-demand, which is incredible looking back at what the platform has become today.

2022

Understanding the Value

Unfortunately, all we had was a project with no structured value for our potential customers (artists) and almost zero utility for the end consumer.

I realized I needed to deeply study the industry I was trying to enter. To build a sustainable company and provide genuine value, I had to restructure our team and focus entirely on core business mechanics.

Bringing in more collaborators introduced challenges I couldn't have anticipated, but it forced me to step back and re-evaluate our long-term roadmap.

2023

Research & Development

By this time, I identified the core industry standards required to offer proper Music Distribution and Publishing Administration.

The music industry relies on strict metadata standards (DDEX, CWR) maintained by central entities. I began modeling these into hundreds of Java data classes, forming the resilient backbone of our data infrastructure today.

Concurrently, I developed our Streaming Server engine to power Meuspace—a suite of custom media transformation tools handling high-throughput file uploads and live broadcasts.

2024

Infrastructure Consolidation

While expanding our data architecture, I addressed common pitfalls artists experience with traditional distributors.

Most platforms separate distribution from publishing administration or charge excessive fees due to reliance on third-party aggregators. Because MeusX builds its entire software suite in-house, we eliminate intermediate markups and pass complete operational control back to creators.
