Meusx, LLC respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our managed node operators, independent developers, and infrastructure users to do the same.
In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, we will respond expeditiously to claims of copyright infringement executed within the Meusx managed hosting allocations (specifically the Meuspace managed subdomains) that are reported to our Designated Copyright Agent identified below. As an Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider, our operations are structured to maintain statutory safe harbor protections under 17 U.S.C. Section 512.
This policy is incorporated into and subject to our main Terms of Service.
1. Repeat Infringer & Financial Infrastructure Disconnection Policy
Meusx maintains a strict, zero-tolerance infrastructure policy for independent operators who repeatedly misuse our technical allocations to host or stream unlicensed intellectual property. We implement a systematic tracking system, though we reserve the absolute right to skip intermediate warnings and execute immediate termination for egregious violations, such as direct merchant network exploitation.
- Strike 1: The subdomain operator will be notified of the compliant notice, access to the specific file or stream URL path will be disabled, and a formal administrative warning will be issued.
- Strike 2: Access to the specific stream or file path will be disabled. Meusx will temporarily suspend the operator's access to the integrated Stripe payment processing rail for a minimum duration of thirty days.
- Strike 3: The managed hosting subdomain lease will be permanently revoked, the developer API access tokens will be invalidated, and the network connection to the integrated Stripe settlement system will be permanently severed.
Accumulated copyright strikes will only be removed from an infrastructure record if a legally valid DMCA Counter-Notice is successfully completed and processed under Section 6.
2. Fair Use and Mandatory Pre-Submission Valuation
Pursuant to established U.S. federal precedents, copyright holders and their authorized legal representatives must review and evaluate whether the targeted media deployment qualifies under the Fair Use Doctrine (17 U.S.C. Section 107) before issuing a formal Takedown Notice. Meusx provides technical hosting for independent creators who frequently utilize audio snippets for legitimate criticism, commentary, journalistic reporting, and educational reviews. Notices submitted without a good faith verification of potential Fair Use protections will be documented as bad faith filings and may be contested by the node operator.
3. Strict Technical URL Specification Requirements
Because Meusx operates via independent, decentralized subdomains integrated with the Nostr protocol, our technical agents cannot locate files via general artist names, generic track descriptions, or platform-wide keywords. To be processed, all Takedown Notices must specify the exact, isolated network URL path where the alleged infringement resides (e.g., operatorname.meuspace.com/media/file-id). Generalized or aggregate corporate complaints targeting the ecosystem at large will be rejected for technical insufficiency under 17 U.S.C. Section 512.
4. How to Submit a Legally Valid Takedown Notice
To establish technical and legal validity, your written DMCA Takedown Notice must be delivered to our Designated Agent and contain substantially the following documentation:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person legally authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- Clear identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, including a direct reference link to the verified original work.
- The exact, specific technical URL path on our managed hosting network required to locate and isolate the target material.
- Sufficient contact documentation, including your full legal name, a valid physical mailing address, telephone number, and active email address.
- A explicit statement that you have a good faith belief that the specific use of the material complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its legal agent, or statutory law.
- A statement that the details in the notification are accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are the exclusive owner or authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the right allegedly infringed.
5. Designated Copyright Agent
All formal infrastructure Takedown Notices must be directed to our Designated Copyright Agent via electronic transmission for rapid processing:
Meusx Infrastructure Copyright Agent
6. Counter-Notice Procedures and Content Restoration
If your managed subdomain content or media broadcast has been disabled due to a mistaken filing or misidentification, you may submit a formal Counter-Notice to restore access. The written Counter-Notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the specific URL path that was disabled and its precise location before removal.
- A formal statement under penalty of perjury that you possess a good faith belief that the media was disabled as a result of mistake, misidentification, or protected Fair Use.
- Your name, physical address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located, and that you will accept service of process from the original complaining party.
Upon receipt of a valid Counter-Notice, Meusx will forward the documentation to the original claimant. We will restore the technical data pipeline within ten to fourteen business days unless our Designated Agent receives formal notice that the claimant has initiated a federal copyright lawsuit seeking a restraining order against the operator.
7. API Configuration & Third-Party Domain Disclaimers
When developers or artists deploy the Meuspace media player or query our technical API data streams on external, custom root domains outside of our controlled network (e.g., custom personal sites like artistwebsite.com), Meusx acts strictly as a data conduit and technical API wrapper. Meusx possesses no administrative capability to modify, alter, or remove files from external web servers. Takedown notices targeting external domains using our API must be filed directly with the actual hosting provider or domain registrant of that external website.
8. Absolute Technical Exception: Open Source Self-Hosting
This copyright compliance policy applies exclusively to applications and data nodes hosted directly on the managed subdomain allocations provided by Meusx, LLC. For qualifying operators utilizing our open-source repositories to deploy independent Self-Hosted instances on external server hardware, Meusx is not the service provider.
In a self-hosted configuration:
- Meusx operates purely as a software code developer and maintains zero technical access, backend database entry, or root network control over the independent instance.
- The self-hosted network operator assumes full statutory responsibility as the independent Service Provider and must manage copyright notices autonomously.
- Meusx cannot technically view, filter, delete, or disable media files running on self-hosted environments. All copyright notices directed to Meusx regarding self-hosted hardware will be rejected as factually irrelevant.
