Meusx, LLC ("Meusx," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and empowering you with control over your information. Our mission is to provide you with the tools for digital sovereignty, and our privacy practices are designed to reflect that goal.
This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use our services, including Meuspace and Meustreams (collectively, the "Services"). This policy does not cover the privacy practices of individual Artists, who may collect data from you directly through their Meuspace.
1. Our Data Philosophy: Data Minimalism
We are not in the business of harvesting your personal data. We aim to collect only the minimum information necessary to operate our Services, secure your account, and comply with the law.
- For Regular Users: We have designed our system so you can access and use many of our Services without providing a password or even an email address. Your account is secured by a private key that you control.
- For Artists: To provide professional services like payment processing and music distribution, we are required by law and by our partners to collect and verify more detailed personal information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect different information depending on whether you are a Regular User or an Artist.
A. Information We Collect from Artists
When you apply for an Artist account, we collect information necessary to provide you with our professional Services:
- Account & Contact Information: Your First Name, Last Name, Phone Number, and Email Address.
- Professional Identity Information: Your Birthday, Physical Address, IPI (International Identification Number), and ISNI (International Standard Name Identifier). This is required for our Meustreams service to register your works and collect royalties on your behalf.
- Identity Verification (KYC) Information: To process payouts and comply with financial regulations, our payment partner, Stripe, will conduct identity verification (KYC). You will provide your verification documents (like a government ID) directly to Stripe. Meusx does not receive or store your ID documents; we only receive a confirmation that your identity has been verified.
B. Information We Collect from Regular Users
- Authentication Keys: When you create an account, we generate a set of private keys for you. Your private key is your password. You are responsible for securing this key.
- Optional Information: We do not require you to provide an email address or password.
C. Information You Provide Directly to Artists
Our platform allows Artists to manage their own communities. An Artist may ask you for personal information, such as your email address, to join their mailing list or for notification preferences.
This is critical: When you provide information directly to an Artist through their `artist.meuspace.com` page, that information is collected by the Artist, not by Meusx. That Artist's own privacy policy (if any) governs their use of your data.
D. Information We Collect Automatically
- Service & Log Data: Standard information your browser sends, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, and pages you visit.
- Nostr Data: We host our own Nostr relay to power the chat and feed features. Your public-facing interactions on this relay (such as public chat messages or feed posts) are linked to your public key.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following specific purposes:
- To Provide and Maintain the Services: To operate Meuspace, host your content, and run the Meustreams distribution and royalty collection services.
- To Secure Your Account: We use your encrypted keys to authenticate you and secure your access.
- To Process Payments: To process "Blocks" purchases from Users (via Stripe) and to send royalty payments and "Blocks" redemptions to Artists (via Stripe Connect).
- To Meet Legal & Compliance Obligations: To verify Artist identity (KYC) as required by financial laws and to register your works with Performance and Mechanical Rights Organizations.
- To Communicate with You (Artists): To send you service updates, royalty reports, and other essential administrative information.
4. How We Store & Secure Your Information
We take the security of your data seriously and implement technical measures to protect it.
- Database: All user account data is stored in secure cloud databases.
- Artist Passwords: If an Artist uses a password, it is stored in an encrypted (masked) format. It is never stored in plain text.
- User Authentication: Regular Users are authenticated using their private key, not a password.
- Nostr Key Storage: All user keys for interacting with Nostr use the secp256k1 elliptic curve. These keys are stored and managed using a secure, high-level Key Management Service to ensure their protection.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We only share it with the following parties for essential service functions:
- Payment Processors (Stripe): We share information with Stripe to process "Blocks" purchases, conduct Artist KYC verification, and send payouts to Artists.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Providers: We use secure cloud infrastructure partners to host our services and to securely store and manage your Nostr keys.
- Rights Organizations (PROs/MROs): For Artists using Meustreams (Tier B), we must share your professional identity information (Name, IPI, ISNI) with Performance and Mechanical Rights Organizations to register your music and collect your royalties.
- The Public (Nostr): Public content, chats, and feed posts you make via our Nostr relay are, by the nature of the protocol, publicly visible or visible to other users on the relay.
- As Required by Law: We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, court order, or government request.
6. Your Data Rights
You have rights over your personal information. Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information, subject to our legal and operational requirements.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on our site.
